Discover the latest features and improvements in JW Time

Latest version available in the Store: 4.2.2

The JW Time 4.2 series adds media previews on the Timer Display, messages on the Public Display, and Settings protection.

In This Version 4.2.2

Media stability IMPROVED

Fixed a rare issue that could cause JW Time to close unexpectedly at the end of a video while returning to the Public Display. Closing and switching between videos, images, PDFs, websites, and audio are now safer as well.

Diagnostics IMPROVED

Recent technical logs are retained for seven days, making it easier to analyze any issues without accumulating files over time.

In This Version 4.2.1

A more accurate Timer Display editor IMPROVED

The editor now matches the real behavior of the Public Display preview: it keeps it always on top and outlines in orange any items that will be covered.

The preview can still be moved and resized freely.

In This Version 4.2.0

Media preview on the Timer Display NEW

Images, videos, PDFs, and websites shown on the Public Display can also be displayed on the Timer Display.

The feature is optional: choose the Digital with media preview layout or configure the new Media scene in the Timer Display editor.

Messages on the Public Display NEW

In the Message panel, you can choose either the Timer Display or the Public Display as the destination.

Public messages are intended for the periods before and after the meeting and can be shown in partial or full-screen mode.

Settings protection NEW

You can protect access to Settings with a password. The recovery code, shown only once and also available as a QR code, lets you set a new password if you forget it.

If you no longer have either the password or the recovery code, JW Time lets you create an emergency backup before resetting the app.

Reliability and performance IMPROVED

  • More accurate meeting recovery after a restart.
  • More responsive and reliable media handling and Zoom sharing.
  • Improved performance, responsiveness, and security through numerous internal changes.

Previous 4.1 releases

Summary of the updates published in the 4.1 series.

Updates up to version 4.1.3

In This Version 4.1.3 IMPROVED

  • Meeting recovery: if the computer or JW Time restarts during a meeting, you can continue from where you left off, including special events.
  • Manual events: you can choose whether an event replaces the meeting or is added to the week's programs and remains available from the Event button.
  • Zoom sharing: media sharing is now simpler and more reliable. The light-blue border and monitor number disappear more quickly.
  • Times and manual programs: entering times and saving a schedule is now easier. Edited titles are remembered, and the choice to include media is clearer.

In This Version 4.1.2 IMPROVED

  • Congregation Bible Study images: fixed image retrieval. Images formatted for the screen now appear too.
  • Special events: you can prepare Assemblies and Conventions with multiple sessions, such as morning and afternoon. Each session can have its own date, time, program, and media.
  • Pointer protection: the new Pointer protection feature keeps the mouse pointer out of the Public Screen and Time Counter Screen while they are full-screen. Enable it in Settings > Display and temporarily suspend it with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+M.
  • Settings: the Settings window is now faster and more responsive.

In This Version 4.1.1 IMPROVED

  • Zoom sharing: when JW Time starts sharing, the light-blue selection border and monitor number no longer remain visible on the Public Screen or Time Counter Screen. To hide the green sharing border as well, turn off the “Show green border around my shared content” option in Zoom; with video optimization enabled, Zoom may still show it.
  • Media: fixed previews and positioning controls for images and PDFs, and improved the Music panel, downloads, and website synchronization; unavailable songs are now distinguished from connection errors.
  • Congregations: window position, size, and scale are now saved and restored more reliably for each congregation, even across monitors with different DPI settings.
  • English translation: standardized terminology for meetings, counsel, schedule status, and circuit overseer visits.
  • Playback: improved stability when switching directly between audio, video, images, PDFs, and websites; late events from the previous media no longer interfere with the current media.
  • CO visit: when applied from a scheduled event, the button remains visibly active, but the setting can only be changed from the special event, preventing accidental changes.
  • Access security: PINs saved on the PC are now protected by the Windows account. When restoring a backup on another PC or account, JW Time disables only the access methods whose PINs cannot be recovered and guides you through reconfiguring those PINs.

Version 4.1.0 NEW

  • Added Dutch translation.
  • Added Hungarian translation.
  • Added Polish translation.
  • Added Filipino/Tagalog translation.
  • Added Japanese translation, with improved text rendering on the Public Screen.

  • Added the ability in the Web Monitor to edit song numbers and part names, in both Editor mode and Controller mode.

  • The Next button highlights more clearly when the next click will enter the automatic pause.
  • The Web Monitor keeps the selected settings more reliably and offers a cleaner experience in timer mode or fullscreen.
  • Importing a single congregation also restores the timer window position and size.

Version 4.0.3 IMPROVED

  • Images and videos can directly replace the active content in the Media Window, without pressing Stop first.
  • The Web Monitor keeps the user-selected setting more reliably during updates, migrations, and profile saves.

Version 4.0.0

Integrated media, Public Screen, congregation profiles, remote-controlled Web Monitor, more flexible recording and more comprehensive tools for meeting preparation.

Version 4.0.0 adds support tools for preparing and checking available content, showing it on the Public Screen, and managing timers, media, and recording with fewer manual steps.

The functions foreseen for 3.0 have merged into 4.0.0, together with the new Media system, the Public Screen and the congregation profiles. This is why the history goes directly from 2.1.0 to 4.0.0.

Below you will find the main innovations, with concrete examples of what changes in real use of the app.

Preview of the new interface and Media Window of JW Time 4.0.

In Brief NEW

  • View and organize images, videos, PDFs, URLs, songs, and already available official content with support from the Media Window.
  • Show media and visual content on a Public Screen separate from the Time Counter Screen.
  • Customize the Time Counter Screen with presets, editors, backgrounds, colors, logo, clock and levels.
  • Use separate congregation profiles for screens, windows, servers, recording, media, and layout.
  • Open the Web Monitor via QR and, if authorized, check the timer and schedule from the browser.
  • Prepare more complete packages and backups for working offline or moving your configuration.

Media and meeting preparation NEW

The Media Window offers a support tool for preparing and checking available content more easily.

Note: the Media Window is a technical support feature. It helps prepare and check available content more easily, but its practical use always remains tied to local needs, congregation direction, and arrangements.

  • Add local files, images, videos, PDFs and URLs.
  • View songs, official media and content linked to the week.
  • Organize manual content into groups and reorder items according to the program.
  • Check in advance what is available and what is missing.
  • Open or show content on the Public Screen without searching for it in different folders.

Official media, playlists and packages NEW

JW Time can help organize and reuse official content that is already available and local content in a more orderly way, even when you need to work offline.

  • Download and reuse official media already present locally.
  • Manage a dedicated cache for official songs, with availability checks.
  • Import playlists and connect already prepared material.
  • Create or use media packs with local files, URLs, images and official content.
  • Open the Media Checker to see missing files, offline content, problems and local sizes.
  • Copy the check details when you need to check or share an issue.

Important note: the alternate path introduced in JW Time 2.1.0 applies to weekly and weekend programs. Official media do not have a second recovery server. If a router, firewall, DNS service, or content filter blocks JW Time from reaching jw.org or religious sites, the Media Window may not be able to download official media. Already downloaded files, local media, and manually added content remain usable.

Time Counter Screen and Public Screen NEW

The displays have been separated: the Time Counter Screen is for the conductor, the Public Screen is for the room.

  • Start from presets ready for the Time Counter Screen.
  • Edit layout, layers, colors, backgrounds, logo, clock and texts with the editor.
  • Show images, PDFs, videos and visual content on the Public Screen.
  • Keep the timer visible to the host separate from the content shown to the audience.
  • Better recovers off-screen windows and changed monitor configurations.

Congregations, profiles and backups NEW

Congregation profiles avoid having to reconfigure JW Time when the app is used in different contexts.

  • Keep language, theme, interface scale, screens and windows separate.
  • Save different configurations for Web Server, recording, media and layout.
  • Import, export and duplicate profiles to prepare similar configurations.
  • Transfer settings to another computer with more complete backups.
  • Existing settings are migrated to the first profile.

Web Server and remote control NEW

The Web Server can only be used to view the program or, if authorized, to intervene from the browser.

  • Open Web Monitor from your phone, tablet, or other computer on the same network.
  • Use the QR to reach the Web Server address more quickly.
  • Follow timer, program and estimated end time in real time.
  • With the Controller role you can start, stop, move to the next part and change values available in the schedule.
  • Protect Editor, Controller and remote access with PIN when needed.

Recording and audio IMPROVED

Recording has been better adapted to the actual flow of the meeting, where pauses, resumes and quick checks can be useful.

  • Manage pause and resume recording more directly.
  • Better control configured audio devices.
  • See useful information from the REC button and audio levels.
  • Integrate recording, media and timer without opening unnecessary panels.

Settings, Startup Wizard and Interface IMPROVED

Settings have been reorganized by region and the Startup Wizard helps you set up the essential parts.

  • Configure language, displays, server, backup and main options during first boot.
  • Find the theme, interface scale and language of the program more easily.
  • Use separate settings panels for Media, Zoom, Web Server, Recordings and Backups.
  • Consult the What's new window within the app even after the first launch.

Stability and fixes CORRECT

Many fixes concern practical situations that may occur during weekly use.

  • Better remembered windows and more reliable recovery after monitor changes.
  • Cleaner app closing, even with servers, media and screens open.
  • More stable management of Public Screen, Web Server, media and recording.
  • Improved downloads, media cache, local paths and temporary files.
  • More consistent app states when changing weeks, languages, congregations, or programs.

Programs always reachable, with new download options.

⚠️ Problems with the Web Server?

WARNING: Before proceeding, make a backup of the app as you will need to uninstall it.

Some users upgrading from previous versions may experience issues with the Web Serverfeature. If the Web Server is unresponsive, follow these steps to clean the firewall rules:

Solution (one-time use):

  1. Press Start and search for: "Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security". Open it.
  2. On the left click on Incoming connection rules.
  3. In the list, look for entries that contain JWTime.

After deleting the rules, reinstall JWTime and reload the settings. Then try using the WEB Monitor.
Once you have done this operation, you will no longer need to do it again.

Improved diagnostics IMPROVED
